Primeline is a leading provider of logistics services, working with national and global brands across the Irish and UK markets. With three decades of experience in partnering with major grocery, convenience and food service clients, it has progressed to become Ireland’s largest independent supplier of logistics and sales & marketing services.
We have enjoyed a close, collaborative relationship with Primeline since 2006 when we originally supplied the company with a range of hardware solutions to modernise its pick and pack function. In the years that followed, the relationship continued to strengthen through the ongoing support and regular device updates delivered by our team.
As is often the case with many of our clients, the rapid growth of the business in more recent times brought with it many complications. By 2014, Primeline was confronted with the challenge of serving an expanding client portfolio across an increasing number of facilities – but its existing systems and processes did not offer the capability to handle this growth. The business required a flexible, scalable solution that would enable more efficient resource management across its numerous sites. It was also essential that any solution developed would integrate with the existing ERP package, SAP, to leverage this investment. Knowing that technology could solve its dilemma, Primeline approached Timewise Systems.
Working closely with the client, we carried out extensive investigation and analysis to ensure that our proposed solution would address both the current challenges and future growth plans of the business. Following detailed documentation and assessment, our team recommended a tailored voice solution, incorporating hands-free innovation and designed specifically to meet the company’s needs. Our team also devised a comprehensive implementation strategy, giving the client peace of mind that the new system could be adopted without any interruption to day-to-day business activities.
The new solution provides managers with greater visibility and control, and unifies processes across the company’s many sites and contracts. Critically, it also maximises the functionality of the SAP system, establishing a seamless workstream throughout the business.
Once approved, the voice technology was deployed on a staggered basis across the company’s many warehouses and accounts. Beginning with 20 users, it now supports over 90 operators across multiple sites in Ireland and the UK. Primeline’s system also incorporates software, hardware, network, device management and support components, looking after the company’s entire operational environment with a single, harmonised system.
Since introducing the new hands-free system, Primeline had seen a double-digit rise in productivity rates. Accuracy and efficiency have increased considerably and there has been a significant reduction in labour demands.
The management dashboard allows the client to make informed business decisions based on real-time data and analytical reporting. Managers can review performance over a specific duration or business function, and compare statistics to detect trends and determine any necessary actions.
With the new system in place, the company’s operations have been thoroughly modernised. The highly configurable solution that we designed ensures simple and cost-effective scalability. As the business grows, the system can mould and shape to suit changing requirements with relative ease. The company can add new users, open new sites and take on new contracts with no business disruption and minimal technical adjustments. By introducing a single software platform, Primeline now has the flexibility and control to manage and grow its business in an unrestricted and structured way.
